Gone are the default landing tabs that force users to "like" your page before getting to the "wall." In its place are posting highlights, apps (instead of tabs), and a big cover photo that serves as your company's first impression.
Throughout all this change, Facebook ads continue to consistently drive traffic to your Facebook page or URL of choice.
Below are 12 simple tips that will make your ad campaign more effective:
1) More is better. Create at minimum 10 individual ads for every campaign. Then take note of which perform well and create more like those.
2) Cater to each audience and personalize. Vary your ad copy as you redefine your target audience.
3) Be concise in your language. 90 character limit as of March 30.
4) State your call-to-action clearly. People are in a hurry, so tell them straight-up what you want.
5) Conduct frequent check-ups. Check your ads at least once a day to ensure they are all still performing. If they are not, proceed to #6.
6) Be prepared to create more ads. If an ad is under-performing, or errored out, recreate rather than edit the existing one. Facebook seems to give a new ad a better chance versus a revised ad.
7) Stay in control. Change only one part of an ad (audience, ad copy, etc.) at a time so you can determine what is factor is influencing the ad’s effectiveness.
8) Timing truly is everything. For sponsored stories, post around lunchtime or on the weekends when people are more relaxed and likely to click on your ad.
9) Keep your wall content fresh. Creative ads only get you so far. When a person gets to your page, show them that you are consistently interesting.
10) Eliminate the SPAM with cheese factor. Be interesting and offer value. Examples of SPAM phases include: buy now, while supplies last, all natural, earn $$$, Dear Sir or Madam, 100% satisfied, guarantee, urgent, act now, etc.
11) Use a compelling image. Be creative. Use contrasting colors from the Facebook blue and white. Avoid images with a lot of detail. Think in thumbnail-size terms.
12) Promote your page organically. Don’t just create an ad and think it will do all the work. Keep encouraging your own connections via other social networks and in-person.
